Racial-Balancing Cases Heard By Supreme Court
Challenge Vindicates 14th Amendment Rights of Schoolchidren
Representing the Asian American Legal Foundation as Amicus Curiae, Fauth Law Offices filed a brief with the United States Supreme Court in support of Petititioners in Parents Involved In Community Schools v. Seattle School District No. 1, et al., No. 05-908, and Meredith v. Jefferson County Board of Education, et al., No. 05-915. In these coordinated cases, Petitioners sucessfully challenged racial balancing programs imposed by the Seattle, Washington and Jefferson County, Kentucky school districts on K-12 schoolchildren. These landmark cases limited a school district's discretion to use race for a non-remedial purpose.
